Deep in Washington’s wilderness lies a hydropower treasure. Surrounded by moss draped towering forests blanketed in ferns and flowers, snow capped mountains melt into alpine lakes that flow into fruitful waterfalls. It’s here in this land of perpetual emerald that an engineer designed one of the most beautiful power plants I’ve ever seen. Adorned with a secret garden, self guided tour, and it’s own colorful light show, this 1930s marvel was a welcome find while adventuring through the mountains.
I’m constantly amazed by the remains of history that still today impact our lives and my adventure buddies that will stop to take it all in with me.
